Dr. David John Seel
is on the National Advisory Board for St. Andrew's Academy and is a frequent guest of the school having been a speaker for the St. Andrew’s Day Conference, the Hilary Lectures and most recently the 2008 commencement.  He is the college and career counselor for St. Andrew’s, which he does via the internet and telephone.  His biography follows.
Dr. John Seel grew up in South Korea, the son of medical missionaries. He earned his B.A. from Austin College with majors in Philosophy, History, and Business Administration. He has a M.Div. degree from Covenant Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Maryland (College Park). He has been a Senior Fellow and Research Assistant Professor at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia as well as headmaster at The Cambridge School of Dallas. He is currently the Project Director for The North American Christian Education Research Study and the Executive Producer for The Church in the Matrix documentary film. He serves as a Senior Fellow for the Work Research Foundation and as an adjunct professor at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
John is an avid alpine mountaineer, rower, and sailor. He has climbed the highest peaks in the Alps and the Cascades as well as coached a crew team to a gold medal at the US Rowing Junior National Championships. He speaks and writes widely on culture, film, education, and parenting.
Over the years, Dr. Seel has written numerous articles for publications such as Christianity Today, Parent Life, WORLD, Critique, and Comment. He is the author of three books: Parenting Without Perfection: Being a Kingdom Influence in a Toxic World (NavPress), The Evangelical Forfeit (Baker), and Special Forces in Kingdom Service: The Calling of Prophetic Schools (Canon). He is an editor of two other books, No God But God: Breaking with the Idols of Our Age (Moody) and Living With Our Deepest Differences: Religious Liberty in a Pluralistic Society (Learning Connections).
John and his wife, Kathryn, have three grown children and live in Cohasset, Massachusetts.
