Who May Apply?

Lindisfarne House is, ideally, meant for young men and women who are either finished with an undergraduate degree or have been at work in the world for the equivalent number of years.  Those who are in the middle of a college degree may wish to take a sabbatical from studies and do an internship.  Also, the qualified recent high school graduate may find a home at Lindisfarne House.

Domestic Missionary

To intern at Lindisfarne House one must raise support as a domestic missionary.  Direction and help for raising support will be provided, but enthusiasm and motivation are key.  Interns will be housed and fed and given a small monthly stipend of spending money.

How To Apply

If interested in making application to Lindisfarne House, please send a notice of inquiry to Father Brian Foos, Headmaster of St. Andrew’s Academy and Priest in Charge of Lindisfarne House.  Please include a Curriculum Vitae and include three references (one pastoral, one academic or work, and one personal).

Application Process

After the initial review of your materials, if your potential participation in Lindisfarne House seems to be a good fit for you and for the community,  your application will move forward.  Written responses to a series of questions will be asked of you next, and then a phone interview will take place as schedules allow.  An interview in person at St. Andrew’s Academy will be the concluding part of the application and, by God’s grace, a wise decision will be reached between St. Andrew’s Lindisfarne House and yourself.

Monastic Context

The life at St. Andrew’s Academy and Lindisfarne House is a life ruled by prayer.  All interns are required to participate in a rule of life that follows the school rule and goes beyond.  Participation as a Lindisfarne intern is a year long commitment to such a life with rewarding opportunities for service and worship, fasting and feasting, learning and fellowship.  At the end of your year, we pray that you launch into the world a better man or woman, more like Christ and ready to serve and worship in your local parish Church.
